Serving Foster Care Families Through the Lens of My Own Story
There are moments in life that stop you in your tracks — when passion meets purpose and your past becomes a bridge to healing for others. This is one of those moments for me.
I’m incredibly honored to share that I’ve officially joined New Braunfels Angels as their volunteer photographer, donating my time and creative gifts to support children, youth, and families in the foster care system.
But this isn’t just a cause that moves me — it’s part of my story.
Why This Mission Matters to Me
As a child, I experienced the fear and confusion of being removed from my home. I still remember the coldness of that facility, the overwhelming quiet, and the uncertainty that clung to every minute. It was one of the scariest days of my life. I didn’t know what would happen next — or if we’d be okay.
By God’s grace, my aunt stepped in and took us in. Eventually, we were reunited with my mom. But not every child has that kind of support — and even when they do, the trauma doesn’t just go away.
That’s why what New Braunfels Angels is doing matters so much. They are changing the narrative of foster care by building a community rooted in love, consistency, and presence — one that wraps around these families with the support they deserve.
Using Photography for Purpose
As the owner of Lynn Burdell Photography, I’ve spent years documenting love stories and life’s most meaningful moments. Now, I get to use that same lens to honor the stories that often go unseen — the brave, beautiful journeys of children and families in foster care.
Through my camera, I’ll be capturing the heart behind this mission: the mentors, volunteers, and everyday heroes who make it all possible — and most importantly, the moments of joy and connection that remind these families they are not alone.

New Braunfels Angels is part of a national movement to radically change the way children, youth, and families experience foster care. Through their Love Box® and Dare to Dream® programs, they walk alongside families with consistent, intentional support that helps break cycles of trauma and rebuild trust.
